Chaitra Purnima Puja is a significant Hindu ritual celebrated on the full moon day (Purnima) in the month of Chaitra, which typically falls in March or April. This day holds spiritual and religious importance, marking the end of the Chaitra month in the Hindu lunar calendar. It is an auspicious occasion for performing pujas, prayers, and fasting to seek blessings from various deities, especially Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva, and Goddess Lakshmi.

Chaitra Purnima is associated with the worship of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva, as both are believed to be especially benevolent during this time. The day also marks the birthday of Lord Hanuman, and in some regions, the puja is dedicated to his worship, seeking his blessings for strength, courage, and devotion.

The puja begins with the cleaning and purification of the home and the setup of a clean altar. The idol or image of Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva, or Lord Hanuman is placed on the altar, along with offerings like flowers, fruits, kumkum, and sandalwood paste. A lamp (diya) is lit, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness and the invitation of divine light.

Devotees observe a fast or consume light foods such as fruits and milk on this day. The main prayer is to offer gratitude and seek the blessings of the deities for peace, prosperity, and spiritual growth. Mantras such as the Vishnu Sahasranama or Om Namah Shivaya are recited, along with special prayers to Lord Hanuman for strength and protection.

The puja culminates with the Aarti to the deity being worshipped and the distribution of prasadam among family members and friends. Some devotees also donate to charity on this day, believing that doing so will earn divine merit.

Chaitra Purnima Puja is considered an auspicious time to start new ventures, improve spiritual practices, and seek divine blessings for success and prosperity.
