Sri Chakra Puja is a revered form of worship dedicated to Devi (the Goddess), symbolized through the Sri Chakra, an ancient and powerful geometrical diagram that represents the cosmic form of the Divine Feminine. The Sri Chakra is also known as the Shree Yantra and is considered the most auspicious and powerful of all yantras. This puja is an important ritual in Shakti worship and is performed to seek blessings for prosperity, spiritual growth, protection, and divine grace.
Significance of Sri Chakra Puja:
The Sri Chakra represents the supreme energy of the Goddess, embodying her manifestation in both the material and spiritual worlds. It is believed that worshipping the Sri Chakra purifies the mind, soul, and surroundings, leading the devotee toward ultimate spiritual liberation (moksha). The sacred geometry of the Sri Chakra also signifies the union of the divine masculine and feminine energies, making it a powerful tool for balance and harmony in life.
Rituals and Offerings:
- Preparation: The puja begins by setting up the Sri Chakra Yantra on a clean altar, with the Goddess’s idol or picture placed at the center. The altar is decorated with flowers, fruits, incense sticks, and lamps (diyas). A sacred space is prepared for offering prayers.
- Invocation of Devi: The worshipper begins by invoking the Goddess through prayers like Devi Stotra or Sri Lalita Sahasranama (1000 names of the Goddess). The Moola Mantra (the root mantra) of the Sri Chakra is chanted repeatedly for invoking Devi’s blessings. The mantra is:
“Om Hreem Shreem Klim Adityai Namaha”. - Offerings: Offerings of flowers, fruits, sweets (like prasad), and sandalwood paste are made to the Sri Chakra. Kumkum, turmeric, and betel leaves are also placed on the yantra as offerings, along with water and milk.
- Recitation of Mantras: The worship involves the chanting of Sri Chakra Mantras, along with the Navavarna Puja (a nine-step prayer) for the nine aspects of the Goddess. Chanting the Sri Lalita Trishati (300 names of the Goddess) is also part of the ritual.
- Aarti and Prasad: The puja is concluded with the offering of aarti and the distribution of prasad to all participants, symbolizing the sharing of the divine energy.
Sri Chakra Puja is not just a ritual but a deeply spiritual practice that connects the devotee to the highest energies of the Universe. It is said that performing this puja with devotion helps in the transformation of the devotee’s life, leading to divine blessings and spiritual awakening.
