Akshaya Tritiya Puja is a highly auspicious Hindu ritual observed on the third day (Tritiya) of the bright half of the lunar month of Vaishakha (April–May). The term “Akshaya” means “never diminishing” or “eternal,” and it signifies unending prosperity, success, and good fortune. It is believed that any good deed, prayer, or investment done on this day brings manifold and everlasting benefits.

The puja is dedicated primarily to Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, and Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the universe. Some also worship Lord Kubera (the god of riches) and Lord Ganesha for blessings of prosperity and wisdom. Traditionally, people also buy gold on Akshaya Tritiya as a sign of growing wealth.

The puja begins after a ritual bath in the morning. The altar is cleaned and decorated with flowers, lamps, and turmeric. The worship usually starts with Ganapati Puja, followed by Kalasha Sthapana (installation of the sacred pot). Devotees then offer prayers to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi using flowers, sandal paste, incense, and sweets.

Special offerings include Naivedyam, panchamritam, gold or silver coins, and fruits, symbolizing abundance. Devotees chant Vishnu Sahasranama, Lakshmi Ashtottara Shatanamavali, or Sri Suktam, seeking blessings for wealth, health, happiness, and family well-being.

Many also perform Lakshmi Kubera Homa or Dhana Lakshmi Puja at home or in temples. The puja concludes with Aarti and distribution of prasadam.

Charity (daan), especially of food, clothes, and money, is considered extremely auspicious on this day. Akshaya Tritiya Puja symbolizes new beginnings and is ideal for starting ventures, marriages, housewarming, and investments.
