ποΈ Durga Puja
(Navratri & Dussehra Special Pooja β Worship of the Divine Mother)
π Introduction:
Durga Puja, also observed during Navratri (nine nights) and culminating in Dussehra (Vijaya Dashami), is one of the most powerful and spiritually uplifting festivals in Hinduism. It celebrates the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil, light over darkness, and dharma over adharma.
Durga is the embodiment of Shakti (divine feminine energy), and her nine forms (Navadurga) are worshipped across nine days with great devotion, culminating in the celebration of Dussehra β when Lord Rama defeated Ravana and Goddess Durga defeated Mahishasura.
πͺ Spiritual Significance:
- Navratri: Nine days of worship dedicated to Navadurga (the nine forms of Goddess Durga), each representing unique aspects like strength, wisdom, purity, protection, and abundance.
- Dussehra: Also called Vijayadashami, this day marks the victory of dharma (righteousness) and is considered highly auspicious to start new ventures or spiritual journeys.
πΈ Purpose of Durga Puja:
- To invoke divine protection and inner strength.
- To purify the mind and remove inner demons like ego, anger, fear, and ignorance.
- To awaken the feminine divine energy (Shakti) within.
- To seek blessings for success, wisdom, health, and prosperity.
