🪔 Introduction:

Satyanarayan Puja is a revered Hindu ritual performed to seek the blessings of Lord Satyanarayan, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu symbolizing truth (Satya) and divine order (Dharma). It is one of the simplest yet most powerful rituals to express gratitude, overcome difficulties, and attain peace, prosperity, and spiritual upliftment.

This puja is traditionally performed on Purnima (Full Moon), Ekadashi, or during special family occasions like weddings, housewarmings, and naming ceremonies.

🛕 Satyanarayan Puja Vidhi (Ritual Procedure)

🌄 1. Preparations:

  • Clean the house and set up a sacred space or altar.
  • Place a picture or idol of Lord Satyanarayan (Vishnu) decorated with flowers, turmeric, and sandalwood paste.
  • Prepare Panchamrit (milk, curd, honey, ghee, and sugar) and the Satyanarayan Prasad (a special offering made with rava/sooji, ghee, sugar, banana, and milk).
  • Gather Tulsi leaves, coconut, betel leaves, fruits, incense sticks, diya (lamp), and sacred water.

🌺 2. Sankalp (Resolution):

With folded hands, take a solemn vow before the deity:

“I perform this Satyanarayan Puja with utmost devotion and humility for the fulfillment of my wishes, the welfare of my family, and to honor the path of truth and righteousness.”

🌸 3. Invocation and Offerings:

  • Invoke Lord Ganesha to remove obstacles.
  • Offer flowers, akshata (rice), incense, deepam, and naivedyam (prasad) to Lord Satyanarayan.
  • Recite the 108 names (Ashtottaram) of Lord Vishnu or chant:

“Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya”
“Satyanarayanaya Namah”

📖 4. Satyanarayan Katha (Divine Storytelling):

  • The Satyanarayan Katha is a vital part of the puja. It is usually divided into five chapters, each emphasizing the importance of faith, fulfilling vows, and the consequences of negligence.
  • Devotees listen with devotion and attention, taking the moral lessons to heart.
  • At the end of each chapter, everyone chants:

“Satyam Vada, Dharmam Chara, Hari Om Tatsat.”
